Dept. of Energy Business proposes time reduction in concession application process for renewable energy generators
To support the use of renewable energy, Department of Energy Business (DOEB), proposed the time required to apply for a concession to generate electricity be reduced for renewable energy generators. This will bring on more investments in electricity generation business.Mr. Viroj Klangboonkrong, Director General of DOEB, said the department was preparing a new regulation and procedure for applying for a concession for private energy business. The new regulation, to be presented to Energy Minister, aims to simplify the application process by reducing the duration of consideration by the department from 45 days to fewer than 30 days for very small power producers (VSPP). Though this is good news, it's not good enough. VSPP shouldn't have to apply for any concession at all. There is no reason why VSPPs should not be "permitted" to generate as soon as their application to be a VSPP is approved by MEA/PEA. -- NetMeter.org |
